The Future

When I am older I plan to work at church. This might seem like a weird goal but my mom works at church and I am there a lot. Because I am there so much I know all of the staff and I am constantly helping out. People always joke and say that I am Angel's assistant. Angel works with birth-kindergarten and their families. This is the job that I want. i think that I have wanted this job since I was in 2nd grade. Whenever my teacher would ask what I wanted to be when I grew up I would say that I want to be an Angel. I'm not quite sure how this links to science but I guess science helps us learn about the world around us. We need to be aware of the world around us when working at church because it is all God's creation. Also, science can help us know how to handle little kids because it can help us learn more about how they think and how they develop over time. Most people think I am crazy but I love helping out at church. I have about 150 service hours when only 10 are required. Sometimes I will even choose helping out at church over hanging out with friends.

weird but ok. Whatever makes you happy i guess. I hope you don't become a church maniac like the ones they show on t.v. with the black hoods and weird clothes that go around whacking people with rulers. If thats what you want, go for it but there are better options out there other than spending 8 hours a day in church...

if thats what u like than enjoy it, it sounds like something ur really passionate about. just pleeeeeeeeease dont become one of those people that goes around trying to convert everyone to christianity, people believe what they believe and its wrong to force them one way or the other. just what i think.

Well it's good to see somebody really willing to help where it really matters, your beliefs!

This is a great thing for two reasons. By volunteering, you can help build your community and grow a healthy relationship with god.

On top of that, should you ever decide to switch your aspirations, all those service credits look really great on a college transcript!

I really like how you tied science into your volunteering efforts Katie, it really goes to show that science, or anything else we learn in school, really can help us down the road. It might show up exactly as we have learned it but hopefully the skills we have developed will benefit us in the future. I am a little disappointed that those who commented seem a little down on your goals, even though they have qualified by saying, whatever you want is "cool" with me. Even if you do develop a relationship with God and try to convert people, recruit people, whatever, if you are doing what you believe to be right, than that is okay. After all, the only person you have to satisfy is yourself. I think there is probably a variety of opinions on how to do this, as the comments indicate, but that is something that you have to figure out!

Yeah, that is a really generous type of job, helping out many people like that. I think we need more generosity on this planet.

Don't worry, I won't try to change what people believe. My brother is an atheist but I love him anyway. However, if people want to know more about what I believe I have no problem in telling them but I know that people believe what they believe and I respect that.

I think that this is a really good job for you, it seems to fit your personality and skills really well. would you stay at lord of life or go to another church somewhere else?

I want to work at Lord of Life but if I had to I would work at another church. I would much rather work at Lord of Life though.

although a child care person at a church wouldnt interest me, i think you'd do a fabulous job of it.
its cool that you are interested in a job that is in a completely different realm than most others.

i think that's so great you want to work at your church someday. When i'm older i'll kind of be working at my church. i'm not exactly sure what to call it. it won't be my job occupation and i won't get paid so it's more of like a position of continuous job assignments done volunarily but i won't get to pick i'll be chosen. sorry that didn't make sense it's really hard to explain to someone that doesn't go to my church otherwise it would make perfect sense. but, anyways i think that's awesome you want to be in a job involved in helping people and also a job that's religious.
