The Biggest Impact

I think that my biggest impact was when I was in Jamaica for a mission trip on spring break. We go to an orphanage with special needs kids, and since this was my 3rd time going, I knew most of the kids. It was really cool to see how they have changed even after just one year! My favorite kid is a little girl named Trish in the youngest kid cottage. She is bedridden, meaning she can't walk, so I like to carry her outside and just hold her, since she is always inside. Last year she was as straight as a board which made it really akward to hold her. This year I went into her cottage as soon as we got there and I almost couldn't recognize her. She was way taller and she could sit up (with support)! The only way that I coud recognize her was by her smile. As soon as she saw me, she smiled and I knew that it was her. Throughout the entire week I spent most of my time holding Trish. This made a really big impact on my life. I saw her and I knew that she must have had a lot of physical therapy and she must have went through a lot. This taught me a lesson, we should never take anything for granted. We are so lucky to have the lives that we do, but most of the time we just want more. Think of how much you have and then think about how much you really need. There is a big difference.

Wow that is so amazing! I would love to go to Jamaca, getting to know the kids and have a relationship with them would be so cool. Trish seemd like a really fun girl and her situation just shows us how fortunate we really are.

thats a really deep post and its rly cool that you built a special connection with trish. I agree with you on the not taking things for granted because good health isn't something everyone has.

It is so awesome that you made that kind of connection with someone who's way less fortunate than you are. It's amazing that she changed so much and who knows, maybe you caused that change.

Wow, that's really cool. Going to Jamaica would be amazing, but knowing that you probably made a major difference for the better in that girl's life is even cooler. How old is she?

I'm not really sure how old she is but I would guess like 8.
