Jamaica

For those of you who don't know we are adopting a 12 year old boy from Jamaica. His name is Kevin and we started trying to adopt him when he was 8. The reason that the process has taken so long is because he wasn't up for adoption when we were interested. In fact none of the orphans in Jamaica are up for adoption because Jamaicans do not want Americans to take their kids. I think that this is so sad but they have a good reason. If you have ever been to an all inclusive hotel in a different country or even one in this country you might know what I mean. The Jamaicans see the Americans as extremely rude, loud and pushy. Their reason is because the only Americans they know are the ones that stay at these hotels and they do fit this description. When I first stayed at Sunsets in Jamaica I was suprised at how rude people can be. So if you ever stay at a hotel in a different country don't be rude because you might be costing an orphan a loving family.

Its mostly just a stereotype, when I was in Australia there where kids asking us if we were in the mob and if we shot people. I found it humorous at the time but looking back it kind of disturbing that thats the message we send to other countries.

Yeah I agree, that is really sad. It really shows that actions do speak louder than words. Other countries judge us by what they see on tv and not what we say as people.
